MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECH

392 Clock Hours / 12 Semester Hours

This accelerated program provides knowledge and experience to succeed in the field of  mechanical engineering as an entry-level technician.  The program is competency based and combines the necessary skills training, mathematics, and technical knowledge to prepare students for an entry-level position while providing a base for future advancement in the field.  The fundamental skills for which the students are prepared include engineering math, geometric construction, mechanical drawings, and computerized drafting and design.  Students will practice sound principles in creating drawings and other mechanical documents necessary in manufacturing and assembly.  Students are taught AutoCAD and Inventor as tools for drawing and parametric solid modeling.  Student’s laboratory practice will also include the creation of a multi-part mechanical assembly.
